Old Men Forever in Maine Tale Stirs Townsfolk
G W Humiston of Porthind shares a tale via Gervais Hunt of an aged man near the Canadian border who claims his father whipped him for stones thrown at a berry-picking grandfather. The elder, said to be 80, walked away crying as his father, also old, presides over a household where berry gathering continues three miles away. The remarkable story, attributed by Epworth League member Humiston and repeated in Youth's Companion, ends with reflections on aging and reform.
