Young Folks of Old Carolina Tale of Pinehurst Plantations
In spring 1781 near Cross Creek on Cape Fear River, Scotch settlers mix with patriots as Cornwallis and Tarleton march in. Alec and his mother await news while Morgan and Marion’s forces operate in swamps. The Swamp Fox Marion and American troops defend homes from burning and cattle drives as British riders threaten plantations along the Neuse and Cape Fear rivers.
