James D. Standish Jr. won the thirty six hole final of the ninth annual United North and South Amateur Golf Championship at Pinehurst, defeating Detroit’s ¢. L. Becker in a dramatic finish. Standish led morning play three up with a 75 medal score, Becker rallied late, but Standish closed three up with two to play amid a large village crowd, securing one of golf’s oldest American titles.
