Visit of State Supervisor Highlights Pickens County Schools

The state supervisor of rural schools spent four days in Pickens County, touring Six Mile academy Norris Calhoun Dacusville Mauldin Wesleyan College and Pickens High School. He and the county superintendent discussed consolidating Garvin and King's districts and noted many small one teacher schools remain versus growing rural graded schools.

Exempted Veterans and Rural School Plans Face Local Debate

Sixty plus veterans from Pickens county were exempted by local and district boards. Mr and Mrs R T Hallam and family visited Norris Sunday. Eva Freeman attended Clemson College Sunday. The basketball team held a meeting dividing into two sections to work against each other. Mrs Inez Morris shopped in Greenville last Saturday. Miss Maoy Herde and Bernice Carey were in Easley Sunday. The Literary Society added seventh grade and Mrs Crump as members. The athletic team had a preliminary game last Friday.

Little Girl Bessie Mae Riggins Dies at Two

On October 29 the Death Angel came to Liberty Route 3 to claim Bessie Mae Riggins aged two. The funeral was at Six Mile with services by Rev. C. R. Abercrombie. The family, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Riggins, mourns a brief life.

Birthday Dinner for Mrs. Pilgrim in War-Time

On October 26 Mrs. W. P. Pilgrim celebrated her 57th birthday at home with children, friends, and relatives. A noon feast featured many dishes, and the gathering included music from the organ. The group bade farewell in the afternoon, wishing many more birthdays.
