He lived in Pickens most of his life, joined Greenville Fire Department a year ago, survived by parents and five brothers. Funeral held Tuesday at parents’ home. burial in Pickens cemetery.

Death of W. W. Smith of Six Mile remembered
W. W. Smith of Six Mile died February 27 1918 aged about 71 after service in the Civil War. He married Rebecca Ray December 16 1866 and left seven children Benson Easley M A Smith Mattie Riggins Mary Nichols Joab Smith. He joined Six Mile Methodist Church eight years ago and was described as devout and trustworthy. The family receives heartfelt sympathy from friends.

The State v W A Edens Jr ended with not guilty on grand larceny after a directed verdict. Edens admitted taking 1350 dollars and promised to replace it. Another case, Sentell v Norris Cotton Mills, yielded 33000 in damages for injuries from February 1917. Cochran and Wesley Jones faced several charges with guilty verdicts and varied sentences.
