Ben F Parsons aged about sixty died at his Buncombe street home in Greenville on February 20 after a prolonged gas-related incident. Previously, he was overcome by gas in his bathroom and remained semi conscious for weeks. A respected Pickens native, he moved to Greenville two months ago and worked for Heath Bruce Morrow Co before starting his own venture. He leaves a large family including his wives and several children, plus siblings. Funeral services were held at Pickens Methodist Church with multiple ministers officiating and burial in Pickens cemetery.

Death of Mr Tyre L Norris at Liberty home
Mr Tyre L Norris died at his Liberty area home on Wednesday February 13 after a week long illness. Born January 17 1846 in Pickens County he was 72. He married Frances Kelley and had four surviving children. A Confederate soldier in the last two years of the Civil War he belonged to Liberty Baptist Church. Funeral was held at Smith Grove Thursday at 3 PM with Rev John C Bailey officiating. he was laid beside his wife.

A group of New York City residents and U S Army volunteers stationed at Camp Wadsworth visited the Hiawatha hotel last weekend. The officers listed included Lieutenant Randolph Bigelow Captain Oliver Dial W8 Treydse Adjl Geo 1 Eadro Serpt Geo 1 DeMateo Captain Chas Ds Mhingart. They are members of the Ldoth Keepment band formerly the BSd 3 Ye Regiment now consolidated in death and brought their instruments to perform at Phawatha and to aid in the Methodist church choir on Sunday. They are welcomed visitors from the camp before their departure, which is planned for Gheefete.
