Pickens County to Issue 250000 Bonds for Roads
The Pickens county delegation urges creation of a three member highway commission appointed by the governor to issue two hundred fifty thousand dollars in bonds for permanent road improvements. The measure includes bond terms, tax levies, bank deposits, and an engineer to survey and plan road construction within Pickens county.

Jessie Alexander resumed teaching at Six Mile No. 1 after a measles outbreak. Ellis Dodson’s condition worsened after a brief improvement. Grover Haynes attended court in Greenville. Mrs. W. L. LaBoon of Anderson and Miss Georgia Knox of Easley visited. Columbus E. Childress and family moved from Easley to his father's farm. A surprise wedding occurred on the second Sunday between Tom Woods and Carrie Jones of Crow Creek. Uncle Jake Alexander of Little River has died. he was father to D. T. Alexander of Keowee.

Rev D W Hiott spoke to students and patrons at Montvale school on Thursday with T A Bowen also presenting. Hiott preached at Mountain Grove church that night to a large crowd. Mr John Gillespie visited relatives near his old home. Frank Lewis now lives with George Ellis at Twelve Mile. Lewis, a former Hampton school trustee, will be missed. Eugene and Mrs Gillespie recently married reside with Mr Lewis. Tom Lynch family visited Mrs I R Porter's home. Clayt Porter moved from Pickens Mill toward Montvale. Victoria Gillespie returned to Rosman after visiting relatives. Holly Springs Sunday school thrives under Edd Chastain. Montvale school under Hal Hiatt and Ruth Cannon. A cotton picking party was held at J J Lois’s home with Prince Cannon and sisters Ida and Flora visiting on Route 4. Leo Winchester and family plan to settle in Rosman. Negro Woman Found After Sixteen Days Lost in Mountains
Cora Hagood, a Black woman who wandered 16 days after leaving home on the 6th, was found by 17 men in Table Rock Cove. She had no food but acorns, slept in a rock house and a stump, and was carried home for care. Her condition is critical but improving with nourishment.

Mrs. Emalisse Lewis Dies After Long Illness in Pickens County
Mrs. Emalisse Lewis died last Friday night at her daughter’s home in Mountain Grove Pickens county aged about 78 after years of feeble health. Widow of John T. Lewis she attended Antioch Baptist Church. Funeral held at Mountain Grove church with Rev. B C Atkinson and J B Gillespie two years to the day after her husband’s funeral. Surviving children reside in Pickens Anderson and Laurens counties. Burial at Mountain Grove Baptist Church graveyard.

The hunters license law remains in effect in Pickens county as this year. A bill to exempt Pickens from the law failed in the senate after passing the house. Senator O'Dell blocked the exemption in the senate.
