Monument Unveiled by Pickens Camp at Peters Creek
The Pickens W O W unveiled a monument at Peters Creek last Sunday for Sovereign Tillman E Hendricks son of Minor Hendricks of Marietta S C The Peters Creek camp purchased the monument and hosted the event with many Woodmen from multiple camps attending Elbert Finley served as master of ceremonies delivering the unveiling address a large crowd observed the ceremonies.

Mrs. J. T. Chastain Dead in Pickens Community
Mrs. Nancy Ann Chastain wife of J T Chastain died at their home near Pickens mill after a night of smothering sensation. She was about 68 and had lived in Transylvania county NC. She leaves four and three children from two marriages. Funeral held at Holly Springs Baptist church cemetery in Pickens conducted by Rev E K Hodges with large turnout of relatives and neighbors.

Mrs Eliza Miles widow of Dr F A Miles died at her niece Mrs T J Mauldin home in Pickens after pneumonia a few days ago. Born Eliza Hagood near Pickens she co owned Caesar s Head Hotel with her husband from 1872 until about 15 years ago. Funeral held in Greenville Tuesday. she was 82. Survived by brother John Hagood and several nephews and nieces.

Progressive Pickens Mill Village Clean-Up Week
Pickens Mill observed a first week in April clean-up campaign with community turnout. Hendricks-Simmons Wedding At Hendricks Home
On April 14, 1918, about fifty guests gathered at Mr and Mrs W S Hendricks home to witness the marriage of Lawrence P Simmons and Ikrnestine Hendricks. Rev Fulton Childress performed the ceremony in a parlor decorated with ferns and pink roses. The couple then enjoyed a wedding supper and guests sent many presents. A Monday reception followed at Mr and Mrs M W Simmons home. They will reside near Griffin.

Easley Youth Promoted to First Lieutenant in Army
Paul B. Robinson of Easley, second son of Mr and Mrs W W Robinson, has been promoted from second to first lieutenant. A Citadel graduate class of 1912, he was commissioned after attending the first officers training camp at Fort Oglethorpe and assigned to a regiment in Chattanooga Tennessee. His brother W A Robinson is a first lieutenant at Camp Jackson in Columbia after the second officers training camp.

Miss Mona Earle visited midweek to promote canning and poultry clubs. A society program was presented Thursday afternoon. The school closed Thursday afternoon due to the Pickens contests Friday morning.
