The coroner's jury found Henry Brock died from a head wound inflicted by a lick with a spitie gun held by Luther L. Hendricks. It states Hendricks was aided and abetted by Bramlett Adcox and Paul Jenkins as accessories.
At about 11 pm on April 1 near the Hendricks and Brock line a gun attack injured Henry Brock who died five days later. Luther Hendricks, Adcox, and Jenkins are jailed as investigations continue. Witness Herman Mullinax is missing. Funeral for Brock held at Mt Zion, town stirring with legal action and community response.
Last Monday morning a severe auto crash occurred near George's Creek bridge between Fasley and Greenville. Clark McWhorter’s car rolled over, ejecting occupants Brock and son Joe, and Will Johnson fifteen feet down an embankment. Joe Brock was trapped and seriously injured. Henry Brock was dying in Greenville hospital. Henry's father reached his bedside before death. McWhorter suffered minor injuries and returned to Norris.
Prof Vaughn and Prof Callicott of Tennessee will lead the county singing convention to be held at Mt Carmel Church on Saturday and Sunday May 2 and 3. The organizers urge full church and township association representation and predict the best meeting in the association's history.
Convicts released or paroled include Jim Rogers white pardoned after petty larceny at Pickens in 1913 and Florence Industrial School until age 21 Herman Mansell colored paroled for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature at Pickens in 1913 J H Haynes paroled after dispensary law violation in Oconee 1913 with reduced fine of 50 dollars and payment of 25 to the clerk of court
The Piedmont Oratorical and Athletic association held annual contests in Greenville over Friday and Saturday. Raymond Lehr of the Furman Fitting School won first in oratory with The Defense of Hofer, Willie Austin of Seneca took second, and Jerome Beck of Anderson third. Central High School of Greenville led the track meet with Greenville, Westminster, Central, Furman Fitting School, Richland, Easley, Liberty, Anderson, Fountain Inn, and Seneca among the participants.
April 4. S J Hester of Hester station south of the city shipped 12 fighting cocks to Gen. Villa the rebel leader in Mexico. This follows a prior shipment since Christmas showing Villa’s interest in fighting stock. Hester says cocks sold for 12 dollars total in Mexico but war reduced demand to six dollars each. In three months Villa has received 24 cocks from Hester.
Secretary Daniels issued a sweeping order ending all alcohol use on ships and shore stations of the United States Navy effective July 1. The prohibition eliminates the wine mess and bars all intoxicants, with commanding officers held responsible for enforcement.
The Wolf Creek colored school district No 27 closed its winter session with recitations, declamations, songs, and talks on rural schools and home life. Enrollment rose to 63, up 10 from last term, with every student advancing a grade. Patrons thank teacher John C Gibbes and trustees S Simmons A Mann and J P Whitmire for their efforts.
Records from the secretary of state show 1,176 convicts pardoned or released by Governor Cole L. Blease since his 1911 inauguration on January 17. About three quarters were paroled, the rest received full pardons or sentence commutations.

County locals invite all to Cross Roads on the third Sunday in April for an all day singing and dinner on the grounds. The note recalls a successful singing at Norris last Sunday and a sermon by Rev. J T Mann that drew a large attentive congregation.
A fire swept through the railroad eating house near Central hotel early Saturday causing flames to threaten nearby freight cars. Walter Cox, Seneca traveling man and fire extinguisher agent, rushed to help and fell from the burning roof, sustaining internal injuries. The incident marks the second fire at Central in 60 days. Also noted, the new county board of registration met at the courthouse naming G. W. Dorr as chairman and Elias Day as clerk. they will register voters each first Monday until November.
Pension money for Pickens county veterans and widows has arrived. Those entitled may apply in person or send a written order to Clerk of Court A. J. Boggs in Pickens. The total this year is about $7,000.
Miss Irene Hendricks and George E. Keith married at 4 pm with Rev. W C Seaborn officiating. The couple, from Pickens county, left for the groom’s father’s home for a celebratory meal and well wishes.

A special Easter service will be held at Pickens Baptist Church Sunday night at 8 o'clock. The public is invited to attend with an excellent program arranged, featuring the primary department of the Sunday school taking a major role.

Samuel Evatt and Dora Leopard wed at the bride’s home on April 15 with P O Wilson notary public officiating both residents of Cateechee. The couple receive many congratulations from friends.

New court stenographer for the thirteenth district is Mr. F. Anderson, secretary of the South Carolina Cotton Manufacturers' Association and secretary to Capt. E. A. Smyth. Judge T. J. Mauldig appointed him. The district includes Pickens and Greenville counties. Anderson previously served as court stenographer.
The Easley Union Singing Convention will be held at the Easley Mill on Sunday at 3 p.m. Invitations extended to everybody.

Delaying a week can substantially increase soil fertility and efficiency of the green manure. Do not turn under oats and rye too early, and avoid letting covers grow too high before plowing.
Roanoke school pupils stage an entertainment at the school house on Seay night April 10 at 8 oclock. An admission fee of 10 and 20 cents will be charged with proceeds aiding the school house furnishing.
