Pickens Colored Soldier Dies in France
Major Terrell, a Pickens county soldier and the first Black serviceman from the county to die in France, died March 18 in Somewhere in France from pneumonia while serving with fifty four other Black soldiers who left Pickens for Camp Jackson last October. His father Green Terrell resides near Hagood’s mill area and received the news last Wednesday.

Infant William Tier Sargent Dies of Pneumonia at 22 Months
The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Tlovey Sargent died March 12 from pneumonia. Rev. W. C. Seaborn conducted the funeral, and burial occurred at Prater's Creek cemetery. The child, named William Tier, lived 22 months, and the family expresses sorrow yet faith in divine rest.

Prominent Pickens County Man Dies in Greenville
Robert Smith aged 62 a Pickens county notable collapsed on West Washington street Greenville yesterday afternoon around 4 oclock as he hurried to the Southern railway station to catch a departing train. Heart failure caused his instant death. He lived with cousin R E F Fuller in Georges Creek and is survived by his mother Mrs Nancy Smith and sister Mrs John McAlister.
