Poisoning case ends in hospital death at El Rancho Motel
Walter O. Everhart Jr. age 33 of Los Angeles died at about 12 10 a m en route to Good Samaritan Hospital after being found semi conscious in a cabin at the El Rancho Motel. Detectives found three bottles and a box of pills in his cabin and a woman Geraldine Burton 23 who had been engaged to him and who said he had a son and divorced last May. An ambulance was dispatched after a doctor spoke with motel resident George Rathjen. Authorities will determine the cause of death.

Desperado Escapes Prison Recaptured Near Florence
Special to The Phoenix Gazette describes Jack Cathy, 18, 6 feet 2 inches, escaping the Florence state prison annex at 4:30 am and being recaptured two hours 40 minutes later in the desert. Guards fired once. Cathy was uninjured aside from scratches. Cathy is serving 8 to 12 years for assault with intent to murder Deputy Elmer P. Imus. He previously seized a car at gunpoint in Kingman, attempted suicide in Mohave jail, and carried heroin.
