Auto nostalgia and a 1916 Arizona car race tale
A reflective piece recounts early 20th century autos in Arizona. It highlights the Plymouth preview stunt, then details the 1916 Douglas to Phoenix desert road race won by E. L. Cord in a Paige, with Gold’s Buick finishing second before judges later favoring third. The narrative follows Louis Killeen reviving Gold’s Buick, now registered as the oldest in Arizona, and his plans to race again in a Horseless Carriage event and Salad Bowl parade.
