White thug assaults woman in woods near Torresdale

Railroads raise wages for all workers under McAdoo
Washington May 26 director general of railroads McAdoo endorsed the Railroad Wage Commission findings with major revisions. A eight hour day for all workers a 2 1 2 cent increase over December 1917 the new minimum fifty five cents an hour for shop mechanics racial pay equality for Negro and white workers and a permanent railway wages board. Back pay will be issued from January 1 1918 and June 1 starts the new scale with no reductions. The payroll rise is estimated near 300 million dollars annually.

All Railways Raise Rates Across the Nation
