Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township hire a professional mass trapper to address a severe feral cat problem. Three focus areas Park Avenue, Williams Street and Kerr Addition have 50 or more feral cats each. Animal control officers urge residents to cooperate with the trapping effort.

Kenneth Brink 52 waived charges of terroristic threats simple assault reckless endangering another person and harassment after a domestic disturbance on Westover Road September 1. Police recovered a Mossberg 835 shotgun used to threaten the victim. Brink remains free on unsecured bail. Two brothers Kenneth and Christopher Reams face corruption of minors indecent assault and furnishing alcohol to minors in Houtzdale. Christopher’s preliminary hearing was continued two weeks. Kenneth waived his right.
The Harmony Grange Fair track, a busy hub this week, has a widened track area for safety. Tomorrow features a 7 p.m. 4x4 truck pull, with a larger show on Saturday also at 7 p.m. The stage hosts White Shadow tonight at 7:30, Moore Brothers Band tomorrow, and Smokin' Joe and the Wild Horse Band Saturday. Dinner offerings include pit cooked pork tomorrow and beef Saturday after the 2 p.m. parade at 5 p.m.
Curwensville Lake Authority discussed sending a letter to the U S Army Corps of Engineers to amend its lease with Clearfield County to permit selective timber harvesting at Curwensville Lake Recreation Area. A forest management plan and environmental studies would precede any harvest.
DuBois Area School Board faced criticism over an opt out policy after a parent complained about a permission slip allowing her 6 year old to be excluded from Barack Obama's back to school address. Officials defended the policy citing short notice and minimal class disruption.
