plans call for a brick reformatory near Pendleton costing 3 million dollars with an administration building, cellhouses, dormitory, schools, foundries, power plant, chapel and hospital. The project will take several years to complete, replacing the Jeffersonville facility and aiming for vacating the old plant by September 1923.
The Indiana Reformatory construction is advancing rapidly with the switch nearly finished and ties and steel to be laid by month end. Wall work starts this week, to be done by prison labor, extending 4,000 feet and guarded at corners and center. Prisons numbers rise as 47 inmates have stayed three weeks and 51 more arrived last evening. A storehouse building for cold storage, laundry, shops, barber, and other facilities is under rush by the State.
