John Day Country and the Dredger at Beach Creek
A staff writer tours the John Day country from Beach Creek to John Day town, describing a simple postale and a nearby saw mill. The piece details Indian encounters, old placer workings, rock piles, and stagnant water, then focuses on the Dredger Company's operations and equipment, including the link and bucket elevator dredge, costs, personnel, and daily outputs.
