Massive maneuvers to be held at Fort Riley Kansas
Beginning October 16 and running to October 27, a national guard force from seven states will participate in the largest military maneuvers in U.S. history on the Fort Riley area. The plan covers 225 square miles, doubles troop numbers, and features nine night artillery batteries, a cavalry brigade, and multiple infantry brigades under Generals Grant Toll and Bart. Major General Baton will command, with an emphasis on testing supply convoy defenses and cross-branch cooperation across artillery, infantry, cavalry, engineers, and signaling units.

Spaniards Insulted by Slot Machines in War’s Aftermath
After the Spanish American War a US fraternity sent nickel slot machines to Spain but the machines played American tunes. Spaniards demolished them and later imports were advertised to play Spanish tunes only. The incident sparked national sentiment and the local market now lists wheat farms stock ranches and city property for sale with water access and improvements.
