A massive blaze swept Aberdeen and Gray's Harbor on Oct 16, destroying 15 blocks of the business section between 10 AM and noon. The Dix block burned as winds from Gray's Harbor and the Chehalis river fanned the flames. The fire department struggled. mills along the Chehalis River faced great danger. Loss exceeds seven million dollars with four fatalities, and telegraph office lines were cut.
Kansas City reports that Mo Mighel, missing since June, reappeared at his Amsterdam residence with no memory. Police theorize he was dragged, robbed of a large sum, and held prisoner while authorities pursued a quiet capture.

Pittsburg October 11 George Lie bold a wealthy general insurance agent committed suicide this morning by shooting himself. He was despondent over ill health and leaves a widow and all children.
London reports a collision between two large steamers, Lord Antram and Manchester, at Belfast lough. The Manchester sank but all crew members were saved.
The bodies of John O'Brien and his wife, both aged, were discovered in their New York apartment this morning. They appeared to have been dead for two weeks and the cause is unknown.
Three dynamite charges were found on the Northern Pacific Maryville branch near Helena Montana last night. A train passed the site without detonation due to frost flattened the charges. Bloodhounds traced suspect George Holland to a barn eight miles southwest of Helena where he was arrested, he admits Colorado home.
Dowle and followers reached New York on October 16 greeted by hundreds. Dowle breakfasted at Madison Square Garden where his wife was robbed of a diamond brooch. In San Francisco at noon Miss Josephine Mead from Los Angeles was shot by a young man outside Hush and Laguna streets. After firing he shot himself and died. A baggage check with the name A Snyder was found. the killer’s alias Paul Smith and the motive involve a discarded lover from Los Angeles seeking the girl who had visited relatives and Berkeley University.
Balem October 16 E C Parsons former asylum attendant accused of stealing goods from the institution faced arraignment and pleaded not guilty He was held to appear for trial at the January term unable to post 200 bail and committed to jail The information charges him with stealing items from a trunk to needles His friends and attorney urged a plea of guilty to petty larceny but he refused.
Walla Walla Oct 18 Adam Schmidt ward politician indicted by grand jury for perjury in naturalizing ten Russians for voting in the last city election. He was arrested yesterday evening and placed under $20 bonds furnished by Senator Ankeny and others. Schmidt aided Ankeny forces by bringing in Russians and signing rapid naturalization papers as their witness.
Wallin Walla October 16 A year old daughter of J J Miller was perhaps fatally injured last night while attempting to climb into a heavy dray wagon. A wheel struck her face fracturing the skull and injuring her body.
The Cook party of explorers from Brooklyn New York arrived in Seattle aboard the Alaskan steamer Sanata on the morning of October 1. They were part of the effort to save Mr. McKinley last summer, which ended without success.
Professor A TilLetkonby head of the state experimental farm Union attends the State Irrigation Association meeting in the city. He will deliver a paper on cleansing alkali land and will participate in the emerald dime is sion of the products of irrigation. He advocates practical demonstrations and has studied new varieties of grains plants and vegetables. His collection at the experiment farm is valuable to the state.
