Redfield Backs Pacific Coast Aid and Fishing Plans
Secretary Redfield told the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce that the commerce department will push two major surveys this summer. A fisheries survey on the Oregon coast and a coastwise study of Alaska to improve shipping safety, plus efforts to lower living costs by promoting mussels and scallops. The steamship Albatross will sail to the Oregon coast next summer to study halibut and other Pacific fishing prospects. He voiced optimism that these steps will boost Pacific food supplies similar to Atlantic contributions.
