British Columbia Bans Liquor Licenses for Construction Camps
The British Columbia government will issue no liquor licenses to construction camps along the Grand Trunk Pacific. Attorney General Bowser says the policy is economically driven to reduce police and court costs. Prince Rupert, with a growing frontier population and only two police, remains orderly without alcohol. The crackdown has led to prosecutions of unlawful drink-serving near camps, and the department now handles liquor licenses outside municipalities, yielding no new licenses to date.
