Movement to prevent infant mortality rises in 25 years
The article notes a surge in child health efforts over the last quarter century under the American Academy of Medicine, with a New Haven conference on preventing infant mortality next November. It highlights visiting nurses, day nurseries, floating hospitals, milk inspections, and vital statistics from New York City showing mortality drops from 1891 to 1900, and cites Huddersfield and German programs as models. It lists the conference officers and prominent participants such as Jane Addams, Irving Fisher, Charles Henderton, Helen Putnam, and James Morgan Trotch.
