Paul Kroger former president of the Transvaal died in the Swiss canton of Vaud after a pneumonia attack. He had been ill for a month, lost consciousness earlier, and his daughter and son-in-law were at his bedside. The body will be embalmed and later placed in a vault while awaiting England’s consent to transport the remains to the Transvaal for burial beside his late wife.
General W H Petit, noted Idaho mining pioneer, died at St Alphonsus hospital in Boise after a period of ill health. He owned stakes in the Monarch and General Petit mines in the Atlanta district and held the Idaho surveyor general post appointed by President Harrison. He had since led a largely retired life in the area.
