Boston January 19 Governor Douglas proposition to manufacturers and operatives is accepted by both sides. The strike will be declared off and all operatives will return at once with no discrimination by employers. The government will investigate and issue a decision on the worker question.
A quarrel over a rich copper placer discovery near Guadaloupe mines left Charlies Purdy and James Hedding fatally shot in Questa Taos county. Their porter John Conly was arrested on suspicion. The report notes regional turmoil as the mining story unfolds.

In Cleveland on January 19 Judge Neffin taxed Mrs Chadwick $20000 bail pending trial. The Yakima County Horticultural Union declared 66 percent dividends and announced plans to construct a new warehouse.
After eighteen months of effort East Oregonian reports Pendleton will host a modern creamery with Alex Knight Jr and O B Harper coordinating. A two story, first class plant to handle strong volumes, with cows from local dairymen and shipments from La Grande. Knights will move to Pendleton to run the plant, Harper to manage La Grande, with space options being weighed this evening.
