In Portland on January 18 D M Walton and C D Bills testified before the federal grand jury investigating food frauds. They spoke on the Butte Creek Land and Livestock Company and the Girnin Preich company alleged to have enclosed over 100 acres of public domain in Cedar county. The inquiry bears on Congressman Williamsen.

Philadelphia Jan 11 Rev Dr L N Irvine today in common pleas court took out a summons to aguault against Bishop Talbot. This means the beginning of mult for damages. The papers gave no particulars. It is understood Irvine plans to renew tile appeal against Talbot at presentment. Washington Jan 16 House merchant marine committee, by a party vote, directed ship subsidy measure to be favorably reported. Democrats failed to defeat the bill.
A blaze gutted the An Theanum club house Young Men’s Hebrew association hall and an Evangelist church with surrounding property in New Orleans on January 18. Loss estimated around $100,000. The incident damaged the area and prompted emergency response.
Judge James A. Talmage testifies on how he wrote the Articles of Faith and revised the Pearl of Great Price. He says apostles lack binding authority over the president, serving only in advisory capacity, and notes the church avoids court counsel in church matters.
