Dew Reserve Opening Sparks Sheep Grazing Debate
In Crook County, Oregon, residents discuss a U S government leasing plan for the Cascade reserve. The system is praised for preserving timber and separating cattle and sheep grazing, though locals say current practices burden sheepmen traveling from Wascoe Sherman and nearby counties. A leading sheepman, Charley Cartwright, built a substantial ranch over 20 years, now valued at 50 000 to 75 000 dollars.
