Edward Counselman, friend of William Bartholin, was bound over in $1000 bonds on an accessory after the fact charge in the Minnie Mitchell and Bartholin murder. Witnesses testified he admitted possessing valuable information and was seen with Bartholin days after Minnie Mitchell’s alleged murder. Police suspect Bartholin is hiding in Chicago and Counselman knows his location.
Gloucester Mass Aug 18 The North Atlantic squadron at Rockport has sailed to New York to engage in a month long mimic war drill. The exercise may fail at any minute but could extend past Maine's trial run Thursday.

Sheriff T D Taylor of Walla Walla and a fifty man posse chase two saloon robbers who held up Freewater last Thursday night. Bloodhounds arrived at 7 am, a brush battle near Touchet station left deputies wounded, and the men fled into the brush. Alf Coubert is named among the robbers, while the other suspect’s name remains unconfirmed. Deputy Ritchie was wounded in the leg and is recovering in Milton.
