In Patrograd on April 16 the provisional government announced the relinquishement of the claim of Muse Oonetan Llasple, a mapmaker, concerning the price of peace.
XTRA WASHINGTON April 10 reports strong official intimation that the government plans to take over certain railroads for mobilization. The president of leading railroads will meet government officials tomorrow to discuss the move, which would accelerate military mobilization and use the roads for military purposes only.
Alfred Franz, accused of obtaining funds through no fund checks between 26 and 20, was acquitted after less than an hour of deliberation by a Pine County jury. He testified he believed he had bank credit and that the checks would be cashed. A related indictment may be pursued by the district attorney. A civil case, Mechlanee vs. Marfan, was dismissed after jury selection. retirement and other cases are expected.
Washington April 16 The United States may stop coal shipments to Argentina as the Argentine government continues its wheat export policy. Officials consider restricting trade to influence balance and supply.

The Happy Canyon dance pavillion will be decorated for the Red Cross Jitney dance tomorrow night with work by Mrs Nesmith An Keny and others. A committee handles refreshments and admissions, inviting the public to join the patriotic event to aid the Red Cross chapter.

Umatilla county convention opens day one state convention day two and a county wide union service day three. Between 200 and 260 delegates are expected from county and state.
Jim Lupes a Greek section hand for the O W. BR & N. was killed near Pendleton two miles east of town on the Washington division. He was dragged about 150 feet after a work train backed into him while a northbound N P train approached. Coroner Trevwn was notified and an inquest scheduled for this afternoon. Lupes, about 65, leaves a son and two daughters, with kin in his native country.
