List of Dead in Eddytone Disaster

A long report from Philadelphia dated April 11 states the death toll from the Eddytone disaster reached about 140 with over 150 injured. Many perished during the explosion and a large portion of the bodies remain unidentified, the morgue holding over 105 unidentifed remains. Survivors described a bright glare and a sudden blast with no powder or fire present in the loading area.

Narrow Escape From Flood Waters At Pendleun Dairy Farm

Les ter Meet owner of Hubei Dairy had a perilous river ford near Pendleun when flood channels washed out. His leg was crushed between a log and wagon wheel as two mules and wagon were swept downstream. After over an hour clinging to a log, he freed the animals and was rescued by bystanders. He survived with severe injuries and was taken to St Anthon’s hospital for treatment.
