Kutish Sees Rise in Cattle Numbers in 1961 Outlook
USDA data projected by Farm Economist Francis Kutish of Iowa State University shows cattle numbers set to grow in 1961 barring drought. Prices have trended downward from a May 1969 peak, with August 1960 at 19.60 per 100 pounds, yet still above earlier years. Cattle-on-feed inventories may shrink since July 1, but a larger fall supply of long-fed cattle is expected, with late fall possibly easing short-fed supplies and pushing fed cattle prices higher late in 1960 or early 1961.
