Henry H Ver Meer born March 25 1885 on a Mahaska county farm near Pella. Married Nettie Bogaard February 20 1912. farmed nearby 40 years, retired 1946 moved to 608 Liberty St Pella, died October 12 1960 at 75. Survived by wife, three children Pauline Jelles Grand Rapids Earl N and Willard Ver Meer Pella, five grandchildren eight great grandchildren and a sister and brother. Funeral services were held October 15 at First Christian Reformed Church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. numerous Ver Meer relatives attended.

Mrs Cornelius Jansen 77 longtime Sully resident died at home October 18 1960 after a long illness Born Mary Plate in Gelderland Netherlands June 29 1883 she came to America with her parents in 1898 settling in Pella Married Cornelius Jansen in 1901 They lived near Oskaloosa and Jasper County where she joined churches and remained active in the Lydia Society until illness Others named include her husband and son Gerrit C Jansen.

Eliza A Shorr Hatfield Ska Fox, born in Cincinnati and raised in Pella Iowa, died October 18 1960 at Cedar Valley Hospital Charles City after a long illness. She married Dr Charles Fox of Tia Loetzcher Iowa and lived in Pharr Texas. Survived by five children four great grandchildren and a sister Gertrude Barkley of Des Moines. Preceded by husband, son Roy, parents, a brother, a sister and granddaughter Sally Jo Shultz. Funeral Thursday October 20 conducted by Rev George C Muyskens at Van chapel.

Power was briefly shut off. electricity and phones were restored by week’s end.
