Burglary in Prairie City Nets Cash Losses
Between 10:00 and midnight burglars entered Ed Slack’s home in the north part of town, ransacked the residence and stole about 75 dollars in cash left inside. The Slacks were away. entry was gained by unlocking the front door and a flashlight was used. Attempts to enter had occurred previously through a rear screen door. Constable Woods of Colfax investigated with an assistant. The town faces a city liability of over 2300 dollars plus costs and interest, totaling above 3000 dollars, with Lees and attorneys noted.

Evelyn Harwood age 15 and Genette Wright age 14 were returned to Chariton by Lucas County Sheriff after being arrested in Logan Iowa. Sigourney City Must Pay Damages For 1929 Crossing Fall
The City of Sigourney is ordered to pay Mrs. Lew Thompson 2300 dollars plus costs after failing to avoid payment. Derrick Winegardner of Keswick a 70 year old retired farmer and prominent Keokuk county landowner killed his wife Margaret 68 then shot himself after an argument at their Keswick home at 6 this morning. He struck her with an iron wrecking bar crushing her skull in the parlor before taking his own life.

Death of Keswick farmer following gun incident
Winegardner, an early Keokuk County settler who owned 560 acres near Keswick, died after a shooting at his residence.
