Three Veterans of M and St L Longest Service Branch
In southeastern Iowa the M and St L railroad branch between Grinnell and Montezuma honors three employees for longest continuous service. J B Bryan agent and operator, Nate Clark section foreman of Ewart, and Charles Von Draka brakeman have spent nearly five decades with the line, a legacy from the Iowa Central. Bryan’s service dates back almost half a century, save a wartime transfer when offices merged. Clark shares a similar tenure. Von Draka’s link is uninterrupted.

Albia to Add 30x84 Foot Wing to Public Library

Charles Rutherford of Sigourney, a county home resident, celebrated his 100th birthday. Born in Middleburg Vermont on St. Patrick's Day 1830, he lived across Michigan Kansas and multiple states, never used tobacco or alcohol, joined the Christian church, and has read the Bible three times since receiving a gift Bible two years ago.

German Police Dog Attacks Woman at Fairmount Farm
While helping gather eggs at the I Vander Hoek farm near Fairmount Tuesday of last week, Mrs William Meyers was attacked by a German Police dog. Her left leg below the knee was badly lacerated and she was rushed to Prairie City for first aid and ongoing medical care. The dog, not believed to be mad, is kept tied and watched.

Eminent Jurist Walks to Rest in Keosauqua
Judge Wm. M. Walker 78 of the second Iowa district died at home in Keosauqua after a winter illness. He was to preside at the March term in Fairfield but the term was postponed. A native of Van Buren county, he practiced law here for fifty years and was elected to the bench in 1922. Survived by wife and daughter Helen M. Walker of Columbia University New York. Funeral plans not announced. Member of Masons Shrine and Knights Templar.
