Woman survives severe burn injuries in Monroe area
Mrs. Raymond Kinart living on the Ed Henry farm northeast of Fairmount narrowly escaped death after a red hot stove ignited her dress while she prepared to do laundry. She wrapped a burning mattress around herself to smother the flames, called for help, and neighbors, including John Poortinga, aided in saving the house and her life. A physician treated her burns at Prairie City, and she remains in great pain with limited sleep.

Elmer K. Daugherty of Ottumwa will succeed the late Judge W. Walker of Keosauqua as district judge. Appointed by Gov. John J.
