Iowa farmers are urged to test cribbed corn moisture and act quickly to prevent spoilage. State College engineers warn of higher moisture and more damaged kernels, with solutions including artificial drying, moving corn for ventilation, or making silage.

G M Browning of the Soil Conservation Service reports at the Page County Experimental Farm that one rotation yielded 94.4 bushels per acre for corn this year, compared with 24.3 bushels for continuous corn. Continuous plots averaged 22.2 bushels over the prior two years, while corn oats clover rotations produced 85.2 and 86.1 bushels in 1944 and 1943. Nitrogen deficiency appeared late, and long alfalfa and bluegrass pre-corn plots showed different erosion and soil moisture outcomes, with bluegrass plots minimizing runoff and soil loss compared with continuous corn plots.
The State Conservation Commission voted to double printed highway and outdoor maps from 20 000 to 40 000 copies.
