Coccidiosis risk rises with warm damp days in chickens
Poultry expert W. Whitfield warns of coccidiosis outbreaks in 6 to 12 week old chicks after showers and humid spells. Two control plans exist: frequent cleaning of the house or a deep litter system. Immunity is built by mild exposure, while treatment aims to keep birds eating clean food and flushing organisms with milk or epsom salts.
