Pella Society Hostesses Clubs and Weddings
A survey of Pella social life recounts anniversaries and gatherings. Mrs. Gerald Paardekooper notes May 29 as fourth wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Connie Smorenburg with bridge and lunch. Neighbors, former classmates, and local families attended picnics, parties, and suppers at homes and camps around Pella, Knoxville, and Oska losa, with guests including Wm Baer, Roy Andeweg, Marion Van Gorp, and Ralph Le Cocq visiting Linden. A Corydon wedding for Carolyn Condra and Peter De Jong was held at the De Jong home with a large family and friends, followed by a four course breakfast. Various club picnics and socials, including Pro-Wo and embroidery groups, marked Sundays and weeknights at Scholte Camp, Vander Linden groves, and local gardens, with visits to Des Moines Peony Gardens and Prairie City church.
