Oskaloosa to pave U S 63 through orchard area
The project plans call for two nine foot slabs to be laid as grading ends. Construction will occur in halves to keep the highway open without a detour. Shoulder widening may be needed near the orchard to maintain traffic flow. The gravel detour along the C B Q railroad right of way can be used during work. The new highway southeast of Oskaloosa, already a major east and south traffic corridor, follows long litigation and recent Hoover settlement discussions.
