The Grimes Canning Company with plants in Grimes Altona Pella Rockwell City and Perry suffered a $250000 Christmas loss as three Grimes warehouses burned. Fire origin unknown, village water supply inadequate for firefighting. buildings and contents mostly destroyed, some insurance. Grimes factory untouched and to resume work.

Santa Claus at Sadler Home Christmas Party Recalls Pella Pupils
Professor G F Sadler hosted his annual Christmas party for music pupils at his home in Pella. First grade from Webster School visited, about thirty children, many invited across the street. Ivan Sadler helped make candy and decorations while Elmer read a Santa letter promising arrival by air if needed. Candy and apple-on-a-stick lollipops were given as departure treats.

Mr and Mrs Joseph Boyd Sr travel to Bartlesville due to their son Joe Boyd Jr serious stomach hemorrhage from German gas exposure during the war. He is hospitalized and improving. a possible blood transfusion was considered but not needed at this time. He previously worked for Phillips Petroleum Company and is from Pella.

Black Oak School Marks Paying Off Building Bond
