Self Help Answer to Growth in Rural Iowa
Earl King of the Iowa Association of Electric Co-ops spoke to Rotary and service clubs at the Country Club on Tuesday noon. He warned that only 41 of 99 counties showed population gains from 1950 to 1960 and many gains were small. He urged diversification and local self reliance to keep young people and attract industry, noting Iowa’s high literacy and resources and that many engineers educated in Iowa leave the state. Mr. King was a guest of Phil Visser.
