Phyllis Van Dusseldorp and Howard C. Hugen wed at First Christian Reformed Church in Pella on November 30 in a ceremony for 170 guests. The bride wore white satin with lace, a chapel train, and a pearl tiara, carrying a white bouquet. the groom’s party wore dark suits. A reception followed in the church basement with a four tier cake and white pom poms as decor. The couple, both 1959 Pella Christian High graduates, live at 932% Main Street, Pella, and work at Farmers Coop Exchange. Preceding the wedding, Phyllis received bridal showers on November 10 and 21.
Mr and Mrs William Verros marked their fifteenth wedding anniversary with a dinner party at the Pella Coffee Shop private dining room and a social visit at the Verros home. Guests included Maurice Verros Elmer Vander Linden Don Verros Case Vanden Berg Melvin Van Houveling Laurence Klein and others.
Rev Dr Arthur De Jong spoke to Rotarians at the Coffee Shop about his duties as chaplain and counselor on campus. He highlighted daily chapel services Old Testament history teaching and collaboration with religious groups while offering day or night emotional and spiritual guidance and vocational help. Rotarians and Kiwanis members plan a joint Country Club meeting next Tuesday noon December 19.
