Negro Miner Fatally Crushed In Marion Coal Mine
William McQuitty a 44 year old colored miner was crushed by a 6 by 8 foot slate fall at Pershing Coal's Marion county mine around 12:30 pm Friday. He died as the cage began upward travel after coroner F M Roberts inquest found no blame for the Pershing Coal company. McQuitty had worked two months in Pershing with A L Edmond reporting a recent roof test sounded right before the accident.
