ioof' Pella reports a locomotive malfunction when engineer pulled the whistle cord at a crossing causing the boiler to vent steam and halt the train. Aid to tow it in arrived from the Pella station after midnight. Garden City Feeder plant closed temporarily due to weak business. about 45 workers affected. Paul Boertje starts taxi service to the depot for Pella residents. Arnold Schippers returns to work after two months ill. These notes accompany local hunting pictures planned for next Sunday's Des Moines Register.

Dec 17 1931 report notes Godino Siamese twins born on the Philippine Islands who married sisters and performed in Oskaloosa with dancing roller skating songs. They attracted a large Pelian crowd Dec 12 at Rivola Theatre. The piece also mentions a front page editorial urging city snow removal and a piano demonstration by Prof Sadler’s pupils.
