Girls from Camp Fire Blue Bird Horizon Club and Camp Fire groups honored their mothers at a December 7 afternoon at First Reformed Church. Horizon Club members served as hosts. Heart of the Hawkeye Council president Mrs. J. R. Austin spoke on upcoming area activities as 180 Camp Fire girls were thanked for selling 2,305 boxes of candy this year, with top sellers Connie Terpstis and Denise Houser each earning a four week camping trip and Denise to attend the Candy Queen party in Des Moines in January. Other recognitions noted sales by Deborah Schippers and Susan Besco and groups achieving 12 boxes per member. program closed with singing and a Camp Fire film.

Local Pastor Named to State Evangelism Group
Several committees of the Town Council of Churches Inet in Des Moines recently and made plans for the 1962 program. Three Iowa Reformed Church pastors serve on these committees including Rev. Melvin Voss of Knoxville on the state committee of social action and Rev. G. C. Muyskens of Des Moines on the committee of public institutions, with Rev. G. C. Muyskens of Pella on evangelism. The evangelism committee has led effective missions in various parts of the state under Rev. J. O. Nelson, who is tied to the national committee. A state-wide Evangelism Convention is planned for summer or early fall. Rev. Muyskens, serving the Classis of Pella on evangelism, was elected chairman of the evangelism committee.
