In the Tulip City mixed league on December 2 1961 Garnet Ver Dught posted a 204 game and 521 series while Ernie Engbers reached 286 558. High team marks include Pella Canning 2848 series and The Grill 95 in the team game. Other notable scores feature Van Niewans 469 series and Max Scakel 247 in singles.

Two 1961 Fords Crash at Liberty and East First

Two 1961 Ford cars collided nearly head on at the Liberty and East First streets intersection on November 23. Damage to each car was about 260 dollars. Both drivers, Paul Nietwsma and James Schakel, escaped injury and no charges were filed.

Central College Orchestra Opens 1901 62 Season

The 60 piece Central College Community Orchestra opened the 1901 02 season in the college chapel at 3 p.m. Sunday under Raymond Comstock. Soloist Richard Patterson, an Oska loosa High School student, played Saint Saens Cello Concerto in A minor. Repertoire included Intermezzo and Serenade, a McKay piece, Circus Overture, with Mrs. Harold Hall of Knoxville as concert mistress.
