Property valuations rise as building offsets land losses in Marion County
Marion County assessor Merle Maddy reports 1983 tax valuations at 41 981 195, up 220 884 despite 20 000+ acres taken for Red Rock Reservoir. Gains come from new residential construction offsetting reductions from federal land purchases, with urban real estate and personal property rising in the year. Knoxville Township holds the highest total at 5 499 074, though down 8 697 from last year.
