Iowa Missing the Boat We found very interesting a story in The Cooperative Consumer
A Nebraska farmer family, Ted and Mrs Ten Bensel of Arapahoe, runs 500 acres plus rents 1440, with cattle, dairy, corn and wheat. They survived the 1936 Republican River flood that killed 100 and caused millions in damage. Federal dams since give irrigation security, but Iowa floods persist without action on Howell and Saylorville dams. The president approved a Colorado River basin dam bill worth 750 million, showing national surprise and support. Iowa politics seem to ignore flood control, and the state may lose federal aid while others benefit.
