Bowie High School students will perform a 30 minute program in Pecos during next Friday in the high school assembly. Sixteen Cars On Freight Wrecked East of Pyote
Sixteen ballast cars on an east bound Texas and Pacific freight derailed about 1:15 Thursday morning three miles east of Pyote when a rail broke beneath the heavy train. No injuries occurred as the crew was in the fore part of the train. Mail service delayed but rail resumed by noon after wreckage was cleared.

Saragosa Pioneer W. C. Halbert Dies at 77
W C Halbert a Saragosa farmer and longtime community leader died at his home Friday after several days of critical illness. Born in 1862 in Arkansas he moved to East Texas, later settled in Saragosa and built a large family. He is survived by four daughters and one son, with funeral services held Saturday at Pecos Funeral Home. Pallbearers named. Interment in Fairview Cemetery Pecos.

Calves On Feed In Pecos Toyah 4-H Fostered By Club
George Barnes and J D Prewit inspected calves under feeding projects for Pecos Toyah 4 H Club this week. Six boys now have calves on feed with four added this week including Rex Ray King Kenneth Johnston James Hampton and Edwin Curtis Finley. Robert W Coffey club president has had a calf on feed since June and it has gained 130 pounds in three months. His calf weighed 175 pounds at the start and 305 pounds now and could be sold by March as cooler weather lifts daily gain to two and a half to three pounds.
