More than 150 people including new and returning teachers and local businessmen gathered Saturday for Pecos Chamber of Commerce Get-Acquainted Coffee. Paul Randolph led door prize drawings, Bob Bickley welcomed guests, and Ray Whitley noted the district now lists nearly 250 teachers from about 40 previously.

Doctors Held On Narcotics Charges In West Texas Sweep
Dr. Darrell Leland Bell, 66, of Monahans, remains in Reeves County jail on a 50 000 bond after arrest by a U S marshal following a narcotics division probe. Dr. Henry T. Leigh, 54, of Andrews, faced similar charges for selling dozens of pills to federal agents. Leigh’s bond was set by a Midland magistrate. Investigators say the drug traffic in West Texas has been under scrutiny for months with more arrests anticipated.

Auto crash injures three in Reeves County
A two car collision at South Frontage Road and Country Club Drive at about 1 p.m. Sunday injured Clifford M. Mills of Monahans and two local residents. Mills suffered two broken ribs and was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. He remained jailed in Reeves County with a bond hearing due this morning. Linda Jean Armstrong and Mills’s son Johnny were checked or not injured.

Three escape from prison in Bellville Texas
