The Fort Stockton highway will receive 27 miles of graded gravel work from Fort Stockton. Grass identity interest grows in Balmorhea area

Red Bluff Lines Bring Electrification To Valley Farmers
Red Bluff Water Power Control District approved a 44000 project and laid 200 miles of lines with seven substations in Pecos Valley. J D Shaw and PWA toured Imperial Grandfalls Barstow and north Pecos as Callaghan Company installed the lines and meters. The system will aid domestic use and power pumping tapping underground water in Big Valley and nearby lands.

Reeves County to Consider 60 Cent General Tax Levy
Reeves county commissioners planned a public hearing to set a 60 cent general tax on the $100 valuation for 1940, with 15 cents to the jury fund 25 cents general county 15 cents road and bridge and 5 cents for courthouse and jail maintenance. Road districts Nos 2 and 3 face 10 cent levies while district No 1 yields no tax. The budget totals 31 055 with 12 855 for salaries and 5 000 for charity among other line items.

Drivers License Division Cuts Examiners In Texas
Due to a budget cut for the Texas Safety Department maintenance the number of drivers license examiners statewide drops from 85 to 32. Capt. E. M. Wells of the Pecos district notes the measure forces reduced town service and the removal of several towns from coverage. The Pecos office will issue licenses Fridays 8 am to 5 pm and otherwise when Capt. Wells or Sgt. G. L. Morahan are in town.
