Two-Truck Crash Kills Pecos Man Walter Templeton
Walter Templeton of Pecos died in a two-truck collision on Interstate 10 about 10 miles east of Sierra Blanca. Templeton drove a Merchants Fast Motor Lines truck east in the right lane when it struck another freight vehicle. The body was sent from Van Horn to Albany for funeral rites. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church in Albany.

Banks in Pecos report deposits rising 16.9 percent in the 12 months ending Sept 30 1971 led by Security State Bank with total deposits of 15 968 837 22 and a gain of 2 839 603 29 First National Bank increased deposits to 10 623 599 88 up 1 624 915 01 and Pecos Savings & Loan Association rose 1 066 703 to 5 965 345 with loans also up by about 1 260 000 while First National showed loan declines and overall growth reflects a regional surge in deposits and lending activity.

Valles boy hit by car near Peach Street
Edward Valles, 5, of 1315 S. Eddy St., was treated and released from Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car in the 500 block of Peach Street. A witness said he ran from Earl Bell Elementary School into the street and collided with Manuel Lara Licon’s car. The driver did not stop. a bystander pursued him and Licon was cited for driving without a license and failing to leave information at the scene.
